About Ray the Landscaper.
Meet Ray, the friendly and approachable Wellington landscaper with over three decades of experience in the industry. With a Bachelor in Agricultural Science from Massey in 1982, Ray worked in Agriculture in England, Scotland, and NZ before joining Wellington City Council.
After leaving the council, Ray started his own landscaping and grounds maintenance business, which eventually led him to set up National Landscaping Limited in June 1999. Ray has worked on both commercial and domestic projects in Wellington and the lower North Island, where he honed his skills in retaining wall construction and dealing with challenging sites.
Ray’s passion for creating durable and sustainable landscapes that leave the world a better place is evident in every project he undertakes. Ray is not afraid to get his hands dirty and carry large volumes of soil or gravel around in buckets.
He has been involved in the Landscape Industries Association of NZ and was even president at one stage. He has also participated in a series of Mucking In and helped with shows in Taranaki, Fielding, and Pukerua Bay. Following that, Ray started travelling to Australia to do Agricultural and Transport work, but he continues to come back and forth to do exciting projects, mainly with Sarah Norling, a Landscape Designer based in Khandallah.
